Niagara Wants $15 & Fairness Town Hall

Hello folks! There is a Town Hall and Social at Plan B Beer Works to create a dialogue around organizing, both on and off campus, for fairer workplaces, stronger protections for workers, and a $15 minimum wage. There will be speakers from the provincial $15 & Fairness campaign, Brock University, and other community organizations. Speakers will be featured from such organizations as:

• UNIFOR

• Department of Labour Studies, Brock University

• OPIRG Brock

• Niagara Regional Labour Council

• Provincial $15 & Fairness campaign

In response to our growing movement for $15 & Fairness, the Ontario Government tabled Bill 148 (The Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act) which, if enacted, would deliver a $15 minimum wage and other much-needed improvements in our labour law. Unfortunately, big business lobbyists are opposing this legislation and are launching a multi-million dollar campaign to stop these improvements in wages and working conditions. That's why we must re-double our efforts to solidify these gains, spread the word and push to ensure $15 & Fairness for everyone.
